After getting about 7 hours of sleep, we got up and had the free breakfast that Hampton Inn provides. Its not the best breakfast but it does the trick. We got on the road around 10:30 and set our sites on Clinton, Tennessee to visit our friends for a few days. Clinton is a small town about a half hour northeast of Knoxville. Our friends have a farm up in the hills there. They have 3 daughters like us so its nice to spend some time with them. I grew up with Mark so we have known each other for close to 40 years.
We arrived around 4:00 PM and it was nice to see our friends. The girls got to spend some time with each other, picking up as though they had not been separated for months. Mark finished mowing his many acres of grass by 6:30 PM and we were ready to head for dinner. So we drove to a local brewery/pub called Clinch River Brewing Company for some beers and burgers.
Crazy thing happened at the restaurant – we ran into some people we know from our daughters’ grade school back in Fort Lauderdale. What are the odds of that?!?! We’re at a local restaurant on the outskirts of a small town and run into people we know. Who would’ve thought it.
All-in-all, we had a great first day with our friends.
